White Mesa

In the desert of southeast Utah, nestled between red rocks, buttes, canyons, plateaus and mesas, lies White Mesa Mill. The White Mesa Ute Community holds an annual spirit walk around Indigenous People’s Day in October to protest the mill. Participants meet at the White Mesa Community Center, then walk five miles along the side of the highway to White Mesa Mill, where they speak out against the facility’s environmental impacts.
